Our Team

Our team has experience in retail, restaurant, residential, luxury multi-housing and yes even yacht design! Having such diverse backgrounds affords us a unique lens into all project types. The smaller size of our studio allows us to have a more personal dialogue with our clients and a thorough continuity between our team.

Kristin Rackner

FOUNDER | INTERIOR DESIGNER |
RUNS WELL WITH SCISSORS

With an educational background in both interior design and art history, combined with many years of experience in the hospitality industry, Kristin brings a unique and personal experience to your hospitality design needs.

Kristin encompasses a rare understanding and perspective from all aspects within a restaurant: employee, owner and guest. This allows her to not only focus on the operational perspective to create a functional facility that drives revenue and growth for your company, but also craft an engaging and lasting experience for your guests.

By making the physical space an extension of your product and branding, Kristin generates concept-driven designs with each element relating to a central narrative. She creates tangible expressions of your brand and transforms that into a lasting guest experience.

Kristin was awarded ASID Minnesota’s Emerging Talent Award in 2019.

Ken Koense

ARCHITECT | CONTRACTOR WHISPERER |
SPARS WELL WITH OTHERS

Ken is a voracious consumer of all things connected to being a better practitioner: from art, music, literature, culture and community. He aspires to imbue each design with a connection of client, place and idea.

When not in the practice of doing, Ken is in the practice of talking about architecture, and with architects, as a co-host of the podcast Archinect-Sessions. Ken is also a two-year practitioner of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and has many bruises from this pursuit.

Mercia Givogre

PROJECT MANAGER | INTERIOR DESIGNER|
PLAYS WELL WITH OTHERS

While earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts in interior architecture from Columbia College Chicago, Mercia worked as a realtor, freelance interior designer, nightlife promoter and bartender. Growing tired of being a jack-of-all-trades, and fully immersed in one of the country’s richest architectural cities, she joined slick+designusa in Chicago, immediately enhancing her design portfolio.

As a trained dancer, Mercia envisions spaces abstractly, using movement and measure to interpret space. Dance like design is a craft of passion--passion for material, space, movement, light, and technique. Space becomes atmosphere; atmosphere becomes experience.

Mercia strives to tailor each client’s vision, incorporating trends, technology and timeless design into every venture, whether it be a bar and restaurant, nightclub, cocktail lounge, private residence, boutique hotel or luxury yacht.

DRINKS WELL WITH OTHERS

Devin’s skills cover all aspects of digital and traditional design with a thorough understanding of what goes into making a creative, engaging and narrative piece of work.

Devin strives to work closely with his counterparts at Studio Vice to ensure a cohesive flow of brand recognition is incorporated through all interior expressions of your space.

Aside from design, Devin loves podcasts about the paranormal, is overly obsessed with food blogs and believes everything goes better with cheese and bacon. He may be a little old-fashioned, but he drinks his bourbon neat.
